Barron's Q&A: A Top Sustainable Fund's Best Long-Term Stocks

The Brown Advisory Sustainable Growth Fund seeks capital appreciation.

The Fund seeks long-term capital appreciation by investing in a concentrated portfolio of companies that, in the manager’s view, effectively implement environmentally sustainable business strategies to drive their prospects for future earnings growth.

The Fund’s investing approach focuses on finding companies whose environmental strategies are generating tangible business results, in the form of revenue growth, cost improvement, or enhanced franchise value. Companies considered by the managers may enjoy competitive advantages as a result of environmentally-efficient design or manufacturing, or offer products or services that address environmental problems. Environmental analysis complements thorough fundamental research and a strict valuation discipline; only companies with strong fundamental, environmental and valuation characteristics are considered for investment.
