WMC Strategic European Equity Fund Fact Sheet


The Brown Advisory - WMC Strategic European Equity Fund seeks to achieve total return by investing principally in equity securities issued by companies established or operating in Europe.


The Fund invests primarily in the common stock of equity securities that that have the structural potential to generate earnings and cash flow growth above market averages. Stock selection is driven by bottom-up, primary research. Stocks are typically purchased with the intent of owning them for a multiyear period.


The Fund consists of a moderately concentrated portfolio of 50 to 80 securities of any size capitalization that stand to benefit from secular trends, having a above-average business model or enjoying a technological competitive advantage.

Dirk is an equity portfolio manager on the Europe/EAFE Growth Team within Global Equity Portfolio Management. He contributes to the management of European equity portfolios, including the firm's Strategic Europe, EAFE Growth and Europe Growth products. Prior to joining Wellington Management in 2010, Dirk was a portfolio manager at RCM – Allianz Global Investors (formerly dit – Deutscher Investment-Trust) in Frankfurt, Germany (1999-2009). Dirk joined dit as an equity analyst in 1999, initially on a dedicated small-cap team for two years, before joining their larger-cap team in 2001, and subsequently assuming portfolio management responsibilities over the following few years. He began his career at Credit Lyonnais in London working with interest rate derivatives (1998-1999). Dirk received his master's degree in business administration and mechanical engineering from Technische Universitat Dresden (1998) and his Bachelor of Science degree in the same specialty from Universitat Kaiserslautern (1995). He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.
